Given a Banach space \(E\) and a positive integer \(n\), a continuous mapping \(P: E\to\mathbb R\) is said to be an \(n\)-homogeneous polynomial if there is an \(n\)-linear mapping \[L_P: \underbrace{E\times\cdots\times E}_{\text{$n$ times}}\to\mathbb R\] such that \(P(x)=L_P(x,\dots,x)\) for all \(x\) in \(E\). When \(E\) is a Banach lattice, \(P\) is said to be positive if \(L_P(x_1,\dots,x_n)\ge 0\) for all \(x_1,\dots,x_n\ge 0\) and regular if it is the difference of two positive polynomials. A norm bounded subset \(A\) of a Banach lattice \(E\) is said to be an almost Dunford-Pettis set (resp. almost limited set) if \(\sup_{x\in A}|\phi_k(x)|\to 0\) for every disjoint weakly null sequence (resp. every disjoint weak\({}^*\) null sequence) \((\phi_k)_k\) in \(E'\). The authors show that, for a solid norm bounded subset \(A\) of a Banach lattice, \(E\), the following are equivalent: (i) \(A\) is an almost Dunford-Pettis set; (ii) \(\sup_{x\in A}|P_k(x)|\to 0\) for every positive weakly null sequence of regular \(n\)-homogeneous polynomials \((P_k)_k\); (iii) \(\sup_{x\in A}| P_k(x)|\to 0\) for every disjoint weakly null sequence of regular \(n\)-homogeneous polynomials \((P_k)_k\); (iv) every positive \(n\)-homogeneous weakly-compact polynomial \(P\) from \(E\) to \(c_0\) maps \(A\) to a relatively compact subset of \(c_0\). When \(E\) is \(\sigma\)-Dedekind complete they show that, if \(A\) is a solid norm bounded subset of \(E\), then the following are equivalent: (i) \(A\) is an almost limited set; (ii) \(\sup_{x\in A}|P_k(x)|\to 0\) for every positive weak\({}^*\) null sequence of regular \(n\)-homogeneous polynomials \((P_k)_k\); (iii) \(\sup_{x\in A}|P_k(x)|\to 0\) for every disjoint weak\({}^*\) null sequence of regular \(n\)-homogeneous polynomials \((P_k)_k\); (iv) every positive \(n\)-homogeneous polynomial \(P\) from \(E\) to \(c_0\) maps \(A\) to a relatively compact subset of \(c_0\).
