Finite subgroups of the extended modular group (Q2323918)

The authors determine, up to conjugacy, all the finite subgroups of the \textit{extended modular group}, \(\mathrm{PGL}(2, \mathbb{Z})\). Using elementary methods, together with known results on the group \(\mathrm{GL}(2,\mathbb{Z})\), they show that every finite subgroup \(\mathrm{PGL}(2,\mathbb{Z})\), lies in one of six conjugacy classes. Three of these consist of subgroups of order \(2\). The other three consist of subgroups of order \(3\) and those isomorphic to the dihedral groups \(D_4\) and \(D_6\).
