This article introduces the twisted Hochschild homology for Green functors for finite subgroups of \(S^{1}\) and then discusses some of its applications. The motivation is as follows: by [\textit{V. Angeltveit} et al., Doc. Math. 23, 2101--2163 (2018; Zbl 1417.55015)] and [\textit{M. Brun} et al., ``Equivariant structure on smash powers'', Preprint, \url{arXiv:1604.05939}] the topological Hochschild homology THH may be interpreted as the \(S^1\)-norm \(N_e^{S^1}\) from the trivial group \(\{e\}\) to \(S^1\). Such a description suggests us to consider relative versions of THH which take as input \(H\)-equivariant ring spectra for \(H\subseteq S^1\), and then define the \(H\)-relative \(\textup{THH}_H\) to be the norm \(N_H^{S^1}\). This paper tries to give an algebraic analogue of this equivariant relative THH. To this end, consider the category of Mackey functors for finite groups. It has a symmetric monoidal structure via the box product. A (commutative) monoid in it is nothing but a (commutative) Green functor. Suppose \(G\subset S^1\) is a finite group and \(\underline R\) is an associative Green functor for \(G\). Then the \textit{\(G\)-twisted Hochschild homology} of \(\underline R\), defined by the authors, is the homology of the twisted cyclic nerve \(\underline{HC}_{\bullet}^{G}(\underline{R}; ^{g}\!\underline{R})\), where \(g\) is the generator of \(G\). For finite groups \(H\subset G\subset S^1\) and an associative Green functor \(\underline R\) for \(H\), the authors also define the \textit{relative \(G\)-twisted Hochschild homology} of \(\underline R\) to be the homology of the twisted cyclic nerve \(\underline{HC}_H^G(\underline R)_\bullet:=\underline{HC}_\bullet^G(N_H^G\underline R; ^g\!(N_H^G\underline R))\). The authors show that the twisted Hochschild homology can be interpreted as the Witt vectors of a Green functor: the \(G\)-Witt vectors for Green functor \(\underline{R}\) for \(H\), are defined by \(\mathbb{W}_{G}(\underline{R}):=\underline{\mathrm{HH}}_{H}^{G}(\underline{R})_{0}\), and if \(R\) be a \((-1)\)-connected commutative ring orthogonal \(H\)-spectrum, then there is an isomorphism \(\underline{\pi}_{0}^{G}\mathrm{THH}_{H}(R)\cong \mathbb{W}_{G}(\underline{\pi}_{0}^{H}R)\), which is analogous to a result of Hesselholt-Madsen. The paper is nicely written, and deserves a further study.
