In the present paper, the authors establish some necessary conditions for Lie-stability of the equilibrium solutions of autonomous and periodic Hamiltonian systems with \(n\) degrees of freedom which possess multiple resonances of arbitrary order. Necessary conditions to ensure the instability in the sense of Lyapunov in some cases of multiple resonances are obtained as well. All the conditions depend on the order of the resonance and the coefficients of the Hamiltonian function. The results obtained in this paper are completely new and complement the previously known studies of \textit{F. Alfaro} and \textit{E. Perez-Chavela} [J. Differ. Equations 245, No. 7, 1923--1944 (2008; Zbl 1144.70005)], \textit{J. Chu} et al. [J. Differ. Equations 247, No. 2, 530--542 (2009; Zbl 1175.34053)], \textit{R. MartÃnez} et al. [J. Differ. Equations 226, No. 2, 619--651 (2006; Zbl 1108.34032)].
