In this paper, the notion of total mean curvature matrix \(\mathcal{H}(M)\) is introduced for a submanifold \(M\) of \(\mathbb{R}^n\). The authors prove an integral formula for \(\mathcal{H}(M)\), resulting in a diagonal matrix. Taking the trace, a scalar integral formula is also obtained, which was proved by \textit{C.-S. Chen} in \(\mathbb{R}^3\) [Indiana Univ. Math. J. 22, 1163--1169 (1973; Zbl 0262.53042)] and by \textit{J. Zhou} in \(\mathbb{R}^n\) [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 121, No. 3, 907--913 (1994; Zbl 0806.52007)]. The obtained result provides a matrix invariant integral formula.
