The Golab-Schinzel equation \[ f(x+f(x)y)=f(x)f(y)\tag{1} \] was introduced in connection with looking for a subgroup of the centroaffine group of a field. Let \(X\) be a real linear space. In this paper, the authors characterize solutions \(f,g:X\to \mathbb{R}\) of the equation \(f(x+g(x)y)=f(x)f(y)\), where \(f\) is continuous on rays. Also, they prove that, if \(f,g\) satisfy (1), then the continuity on rays of the nonconstant function \(f\) implies the continuity on rays of \(g\). After this, they show how to obtain forms of solutions of (1) under the assumption that \(f\) is continuous on rays.
