Let \(p\) be prime. A graded Dieudonné module \(M\) is a graded abelian group with a \(\mathbb Z_p\)-action which preserves degrees, along with maps \(F,V\colon M\to M\) such that \(F(M_n)\subset M_{pn}\), \(V(M_{pn})\subset M_n\), \(V(x)=0\) if \(x\in M_k\) and \(p\nmid k\), \(VF=FV=p\), and \(p^{s+1}M_{p^sk}=0\) if \((k,p)=1\) for all integers \(k,n\), and \(s\). Let \(\mathcal{DM}\) be the category of Dieudonné modules. Dieudonné modules correspond to graded, connected, commutative, cocommutative Hopf algebras over \(\mathbb F_p\), and this work is an attempt to give \(\mathcal{DM}\) additional structure, and see what effect this structure has on the corresponding Hopf algebras. A structure introduced on \(\mathcal{DM}\) is that of a generalized Yang-Baxter operator. For a Dieudonné module \(M\), a generalized Yang-Baxter operator is an invertible bilinear map \(A\colon M\otimes_{\mathbb Z}M\to M\otimes_{\mathbb Z}M\) which satisfies braided group relations, i.e., \(A^{12}A^{23}A^{12}=A^{23}A^{12}A^{23}\). The identity map is certainly a Yang-Baxter operator, as is the usual twist map (which here is called the switch Yang-Baxter operator). Other nontrivial examples are given. The Yang-Baxter structures on \(\mathcal{DM}\) give rise to ring and coring operations on the corresponding Hopf algebras; explicit examples are given in this work.
