The author gives a survey on different topics on the convergence of (diagonal) sequences of rational interpolants. After a short discussion of their definitions, he first reviews results about locally uniform convergence. Then he treats convergence in capacity, especially the case where the limit function contains branch points. He points out the importance of ``symmetric (with respect to an asymptotic distribution) domains'', and he illustrates the arising difficulties by several examples.
