The present paper is a contribution to the theory for frames in finite-dimensional spaces, but from a different point of view. The authors construct non-tight frames in finite-dimensional spaces consisting of periodic functions, i.e., in subspaces of \(L^{2}(0,2\pi)\). The fact that the frames are non-tight makes it cumbersome to find the canonical dual frame, but the authors show that by allowing generators outside the space where they have the frame expansion, they have considerable freedom in the choice of oblique duals. They use this freedom to provide explicit constructions of some particularly convenient oblique duals, as well as oblique duals belonging to prescribed spaces different from the space where they obtain the expansion. In particular, this leads to oblique duals that are trigonometric polynomials.
