The authors consider a class of nonlinear delayed differential equations, which arise in a predator-prey model with stage structure. By using the Hopf bifurcation theorem they prove the existence of periodic solutions with small amplitude. The direction of the bifurcation is discussed by applying the normal form theory and the center manifold theorem.
