    Let \(T\) be a Calderón-Zygmund operator and let \(M\) be the Hardy--Littlewood maximal operator. \textit{D. Cruz-Uribe}, \textit{J.M. Martell} and \textit{C. Pérez} [``A note on the off-diagonal Muckenhoupt--Wheeden conjecture'', In: Advanced Course in Mathematical Analysis V, Singapore, World Scientific (to appear)] proved that if \(M : L^p(v) \rightarrow L^q(u)\) and \(M : L^{q'}(u^{1-q'}) \rightarrow L^{p'}(v^{1-p'})\), then \(T\) is bounded from \(L^p(v)\) to \(L^q(u)\). The authors consider a similar result for the Riesz potential \[ I_{\alpha} f(x) = \int_{\mathbb R^n} \frac{f(y)}{ | x-y |^{n-\alpha}}\,dy \] and the fractional maximal operator \( M_{\alpha}f(x) = \sup_{Q \ni x} | Q |^{\alpha/n -1} \int_Q | f(y) | \, dy. \) They prove the following: if \[ M_{\alpha}: L^{p}(v) \rightarrow L^q(u) \quad \text{and} \quad M_{\alpha}: L^{q'}(u^{1-q'}) \rightarrow L^{p'}(v^{1-p'}), \] then \[ I_{\alpha}: L^p(v) \rightarrow L^q(u). \] As a consequence, they also prove a number of sharp one and two weight norm inequalities for the Riesz potential.
