The author considers stability of rarefaction waves at the 1-D piston problem for exothermal Euler equations (when the piston moves backwards relatively to the gas). The gas is ideal polytropic. The initial condition is a small \(L^\infty\) perturbation of the constant unburned state. An entropy inequality holds. Under these assumptions a global entropy solution exists, includes a strong 4-rarefaction wave, and is similar to the solution of the non-perturbed problem. Also the time-asymptotic behaviour of the solutions is described,
