A metric space is called Atsuji space or UC Space if each real-continuous function defined on it is uniformly continuous. In this paper, given a non-Atsuji metric space \((X,d)\) the authors are interested in the analysis of the size and structure of the family of continuous functions that are not uniformly continuous. They prove that, under appropriate conditions, the mentioned family is very large both in the topological and the algebraic sense. Corresponding results for size and structure of the family of unbounded continuous functions defined on a non-compact metrizable topological space are also obtained.
