    Let $\mathbb{T}$ be the unit circle in the complex plane. For $0 < \alpha \leq 1$, and $1 < p \leq \infty$, define \[\operatorname{Lip}_{\mathbb{T}} (\alpha; p) = \left \{ f \in L^p(\mathbb{T}):~ \| f(h+ \cdot) - f(\cdot) \|_p = O(h^\alpha)\text{ as }h \to 0 \right \}. \] Two classical theorems due to Titchmarsh state the following: \par Theorem A: Let $0 < \alpha \leq 1$ and $1 < p \leq 2$. If $f \in \operatorname{Lip}_{\mathbb{T}}(\alpha; p)$, then $\widehat{f} \in \ell^\beta (\mathbb{Z}) $ for $\frac{p}{p +\alpha p -1} < \beta \leq q$, $\frac{1}{p} + \frac{1}{q} = 1$. \par Theorem B: Let $0 < \alpha \leq 1$ and $f \in L^2(\mathbb{T})$. Then, $f \in \operatorname{Lip}_{\mathbb{T}}(\alpha ; 2)$ if and only if \[ \sum_{|j| \geq N} ~| \widehat{f} |^2 = O(N^{-2\alpha})\text{ as } N \to \infty. \] Now, let $G$ be a compact Lie group and $K$ a compact subgroup of $G$. Let $M = G/K$ be the associated compact homogeneous space. For $h \in G$, define $|h| = d(h, e)$ the geodesic distance of $h$ from the identity. For $0 < \alpha \leq 1$ and $1 < p \leq \infty$ the authors define the space $ \operatorname{Lip}_{G/K}( \alpha; p)$ by \[ \operatorname{Lip}_{G/K}( \alpha; p) = \left \{f \in L^p(G/K): \|f(h \cdot) - f(\cdot) \|_p = O(|h|^\alpha)\text{ as }|h| \to 0 \right \}. \] Let $\widehat{G}_0$ be the subset of $\widehat{G}$ (unitary dual of $G$) consisting of representations $\xi$ of class I with respect $K$. Extending Theorems A and B the authors prove: \par Theorem A': Let $G/K$ be a compact homogeneous manifold of dimension $n$. Let $0 < \alpha \leq 1$ and $1 < p \leq 2$, $\frac{1}{p} + \frac{1}{q} = 1$. Let $f \in \operatorname{Lip}_{G/K}(\alpha; p)$, then \[ \widehat{ (1 - \mathcal{L}_{G/K})^{\frac{1}{2}}f} \in \ell^{\beta}(\widehat{G}_0)\text{ for } \frac{n}{\alpha + n -\frac{n}{p} -1} \leq \beta \leq q, \] where $\mathcal{L}_{G/K}$ is the Laplacian on $G/K$. \par Theorem B': Let $0 < \alpha \leq 1$ and $f \in L^2(G/K)$. Then, $f \in \operatorname{Lip}_{G/K}(\alpha; 2)$ if and only if \[ \sum_{\xi \in \widehat{G}_0, <\xi> \geq N}~d_\xi~\| \widehat{f}(\xi) \|^2_{\text{HS}} = O(N^{-2\alpha})\text{ as }N \to \infty. \] Here $<\xi>$ are the eigenvalues of $(1 - \mathcal{L}_{G/K} )^{\frac{1}{2}}$ corresponding to the representations $\xi \in \widehat{G}_0$. As a corollary to the characterizations a multiplier theorem for Lipschitz spaces on compact Lie groups is obtained. Analogous results are also obtained for Dini-Lipschitz classes.
