The authors study standard modules for the affine Lie algebra \(C_n^{(1)}\). These are taken as quotients of a Verma module by its maximal submodule. By using annihilating fields, they manage to get a spanning set of the standard modules. They then proceed to a combinatorial study of the leading terms using the concept of ``cascade with multiplicities'', By using this technique they reduce the spanning set and conjecture a basis for the standard modules \(L(k\Lambda_0)\). This conjecture includes some cases that have already been proved and many others. As a consequence, by using Lepowsky's product formula, they also have some conjectured identities of the Rogers-Ramanujan type.
