Let \(\hat{\mathfrak{g}}\) be an affine Lie algebra of type \(B_2^{(1)}\), and let \(\hat{\mathfrak{g}}=\hat{\mathfrak{g}}_{-1}+\hat{\mathfrak{g}}_{0}+\hat{\mathfrak{g}}_{1}\), be a \(\mathbb Z\)-grading, \(L(\Lambda)\) a standard \(\hat{\mathfrak{g}}\)-module with highest weight \(\Lambda\) and highest weight vector \(v_{\Lambda}\) and level \(k\). Consider the important subspace \(W(\Lambda)=U(\hat{\mathfrak{g}}_{1})v_{\Lambda}\) of \(L(\Lambda)\). The main result of the paper is the construction of a basis for such a subspace parametrized by certain monomials satisfying specific ``difference'' conditions and ``initial'' conditions. The proof of independence is obtained by the use of the intertwining operators of the vertex operator algebra theory and by the construction of simple current operators for \(B_2^{(1)}\) following work of Dong, Li, and Mason. From these vectors then the author obtains bases for the whole standard \(\hat{\mathfrak{g}}\)-module \(L(\Lambda)\).
