The aim of the paper is to prove the uniform convergence of basic Fourier-Bessel series on a \(q\)-linear grid. More precisely, for \(0<q<1\) and \( \nu>-1\) a real parameter, let us consider the third Jackson-Bessel function sequence (or the Hahn-Exton \(q\)-Bessel function sequence), \(\{J_\nu(qj_{k\nu}x;q^2)\}_{k\in\mathbb{N}},\) where \(j_{k\nu}=j_{k\nu}(q^2)\) are the positive zeros of \(J_\nu\) (which are arranged in ascending order of magnitude) and \(d_q x\) denotes the measure of the Jackson \(q\)-integral. It is well known that \(\{x^{1/2}J_\nu(qj_{k\nu}x;q^2 )\}_{k\in\mathbb{N}}\) is a complete orthogonal system in \(L^2_q[0,1]\) and given a function \(f\in L^2_q[0,1]\), the basic Fourier-Bessel series is defined as \[ S^\nu_q(f)(x)=\sum_{k\geq 1}a_k^\nu(f)x^{1/2}J_\nu(qj_{k\nu}x;q^2 ),\tag{1} \] where \(a_k^\nu(f)\) are the Fourier-Bessel coefficients. Let \(V^+_q=\{q^n: n=0,1,2,\dots\}\) be the support points of the q-integral and \(\lambda>1\). In this context, the authors prove that if \(f\) is a \(q\)-linear Hölder function of order \(\lambda\) on \(V^+_q\), \(x^{3/2}f(x)\in L^2_q[0,1]\) and \(\lim_{x\to 0^+}f(x)=f(0^+)\) is finite, then the Fourier-Bessel series (1) is uniformly convergent and converges to \(f\). To this end, the authors prove that for \(n=0,1,2,\dots\) and \(\nu>0\), there exists a constant \(C>0\), independent of \(k\) and \(n\), such that, \[ \left |J_\nu(q^{n+1}j_{k\nu}x;q^2)\right| \leq C\tag{2} \] and they study the asymptotic behavior of \(J'_\nu(qj_{k\nu}x;q^2)\), when \(k\to\infty\), providing a direct proof based on the definition of the Hahn-Exton \(q\)-Bessel function. The inequality (2) is a key argument to obtain estimates of the integral \[ \int_0^1tf(t)J_\nu(q^{n+1}j_{k\nu}t;q^2)d_qt \] and therefore the uniform convergence of the series (1) is obtained. Additionally, the authors study the relation between mean convergence and pointwise convergence of (1), first in a general set up and then apply it in the context of \(q\)-Fourier-Bessel series. Finally, they conclude the article by developing two explicit examples of uniformly convergent Fourier-Bessel series on a \(q\)-linear grid.
