This paper is concerned with the qualitative analysis of solutions of a class of nonlinear elliptic equations at resonance with Dirichlet boundary condition. A feature of this paper is that the energy associated to the problem is a double-phase energy functional. This is motivated by the fact that the problem is driven by the Laplace and the \(p\)-Laplace differential operators (that is, \((p,2)\)-equation). The first main result deals with the case when the competing terms are not decoupled. In this case, the authors establish the existence of at least three solutions for small values of the positive parameter (low perturbations). Then the competing nonlinearities are assumed to be decoupled and they are assumed to allow resonance at \(\pm\infty\). In this case, the authors prove the existence of at least six solutions in the cases of low perturbations. The proofs combine refined variational and topological methods.
