The principle of local reflexivity is a powerful tool in the theory of Banach spaces and its applications. It was introduced in [\textit{J. Lindenstrauss} and \textit{H. P. Rosenthal}, Isr. J. Math. 7, 325--349 (1969; Zbl 0205.12602)]. On the other hand, recently the concept of the bounded approximation property of pairs was introduced and studied in [\textit{T. Figiel} et al., Isr. J. Math. 183, 199--231 (2011; Zbl 1235.46027)]. This concept involves finite-rank operators fixing a subspace in a given Banach space. Studies in the last mentioned paper and in [\textit{E. Oja} and \textit{S. Treialt}, Stud. Math. 217, No. 1, 79--94 (2013; Zbl 1293.46012)] seem to indicate a need for some kind of principle of local reflexivity that would respect subspaces. The author of the paper under review establishes such versions of the principle of local reflexivity and gives some applications to bounded approximation properties of pairs (\(X,Y\)), where \(Y\) is a closed subspace of \(X\).
