\textit{G. Shimura} [Ann. Math. (2) 97, 440--481 (1973; Zbl 0266.10022)] was the first who constructed a lift (for every natural and squarefree number) from half-integral weight cusp forms to integral weight holomorphic forms. \textit{T. Shintani} [Nagoya Math. J. 58, 83--126 (1975; Zbl 0316.10016)] defined a lift (for every fundamental discriminant d and integer \(k>1\) satisfying \((-1)^k d>0\)) from integral to half-integral weight cusp forms with special type coefficients. The present paper introduces an extension of Shintani's lifts from integral weight weakly holomorphic modular forms to half-integral weight weakly holomorphic modular forms. The lifts satisfy some remarkable properties on the entire space of weakly holomorphic modular forms. Particularly the lifts all commute with the Hecke operators, they all map cusp forms to cusp forms and preserve orthogonality. The paper shows that the Zagier lifts commute with the Hecke operators, shows the relation between the Zagier and the Shintani lifts, constructs Shintani lifts for weakly holomorphic modular forms, constructs special lifts, which yield so called ``fractional derivatives'' from the space of half-integral weight harmonic weak Maass forms to half-integral weight weakly holomorphic modular forms.
