A quasi-Lie bialgebroid, as introduced by \textit{D.~Roytenberg} [Lett. Math. Phys. 61, No. 2, 123--137 (2002; Zbl 1027.53104)], is a structure on a pair \((A,A^*)\) of vector bundles in duality, with a Lie algebroid structure on \(A^*\) and an anchored skew-symmetric bracket on sections of \(A\), satisfying some compatibility conditions. These conditions are expressed in terms of a section \(\varphi\) of \(\wedge^3A^*\) which turns out to be an obstruction to a Lie bialgebroid structure on \((A,A^*)\). A Lie-quasi bialgebroid is a similar notion with the reversed roles of \(A\) and \(A^*\). This generalizes the notion of twisted Poisson manifold in the same way as the concept of a Lie bialgebroid generalizes that of Poisson manifold. On the other hand, Jacobi algebroids and Jacobi bialgebroids introduced by \textit{J.~Grabowski} and \textit{G.~Marmo} [J. Phys. A, Math. Gen. 34, No. 49, 10975--10990 (2001; Zbl 0998.53054)] and by D.~Iglesias and J.~C.~Marrero under the name generalized Lie bialgebroids, generalize Lie algebroids and Lie bialgebroids in the Jacobi bracket context, so that quasi-Jacobi bialgebroids and Jacobi-quasi bialgebroids are the notions combining both types of generalizations. The authors show that quasi-Jacobi bialgebroids induce quasi-Jacobi structures on the base and that they are related to certain quasi-Lie bialgebroids via a procedure of quasi-Poissonization.
