The elliptic gamma function is a solution of an elliptic version of the Euler functional equation \(\Gamma(z+1)=z\Gamma(z)\), in which the rational function \(z\) is replaced by a theta function, i.e. \[ \Gamma(z+\sigma,\tau,\sigma)= \theta_{0} (z,\tau) \Gamma(z,\tau,\sigma), \] \[ \theta_{0} (z,\tau)=\prod_{j=0}^{+\infty} (1-e^{2\pi i((j+1)\tau-z)})(1-e^{2\pi i (j\tau+z)}). \] In this paper, the authors introduce systemically the Theta function and elliptic gamma function, Gamma functions associated with wedges, the Gamma gerbe, constructing gerbe via divisors, the characteristic class of the Gamma gerbes, etc. To sum up, the purpose of this paper is to obtain elliptic gamma functions, which form a meromorphic section of a hermitian holomorphic abelian gerbe over the universal oriented triptic curve.
