The \(C_2\)-cofiniteness condition was first introduced by Zhu when he proved his modular invariance theorem for \(C_2\)-cofinite rational vertex operator algebras (VOA). This theorem was generalized by Miyamoto to \(C_2\)-cofinite VOA without any assumption on rationality. However, there are only few examples of VOA which are \(C_2\)-cofinite but irrational. In this article, the authors study a class of VOA called triplet vertex operator algebras. The main result is that the triplet VOA \({\mathcal W}(p)\) of central charge \(1-6(p-1)^2/p\), \(p\geq 2\), is \(C_2\)-cofinite but irrational. The authors also compute Zhu's algebra \(A({\mathcal W}(p))\) and classify all irreducible modules for \({\mathcal W}(p)\). Finally, they show that \({\mathcal W}(p)\) admits some logarithmic modules and hence \({\mathcal W}(p)\) is irrational.
