In the representation theory of irrational vertex operator algebras, logarithmic intertwining operators introduced in the author's paper [Contemp. Math. 297, 201--225 (2002; Zbl 1023.17020)] play an important role. In the present paper, the author studies the Heisenberg vertex operator algebra \(M(1)\), which is a basic example of an irrational vertex operator algebra. He constructs a large family of logarithmic modules for \(M(1)\) and the corresponding logarithmic intertwining operators. He considers the Virasoro vertex operator algebra \(L(1,0)\) as a subalgebra of \(M(1)\) and obtains a realization of a family of hidden logarithmic intertwining operators, i.e., those that operate among two ordinary and one genuine logarithmic \(L(1, 0)\)-module. The present paper contains important results which are useful for the construction of logarithmic modules and logarithmic intertwining operators for various subalgebras of Heisenberg vertex operator algebras.
