The authors present a general method for constructing logarithmic representations for vertex operator (super)algebras. These are representations on which the Virasoro generator \(L(0)\) does not act semisimply. These representations are obtained as (intersections of) kernels of screening operators subject to some additional properties. The authors apply their methods, in particular, to the triplet vertex algebras and to their \(N=1\) super-extensions. Indecomposable modules obtained in this way are analyzed in detail. The paper also contributes to better understanding of logarithmic representations for certain affine vertex algebras at an admissible level. In particular, the authors manage to prove existence of some representations predicted earlier by Gaberdiel. In the last part of the paper the authors combine their methods with the theory of simple currents to show that the module map for logarithmic modules gives rise to logarithmic intertwining operators.
