Let \(X\) be a smooth projective variety. The Albanese fibre dimension of \(X\) is defined as the dimension of a general fibre of the Albanese map of \(X\), regarded as a surjective map onto its image. In particular, \(X\) has maximal Albanese dimension iff the Albanese fibre dimension of \(X\) is equal to 0. The main result of this paper is the following Theorem. Let \(f: X\to Y\) be a surjective morphism of smooth projective varieties and let \(F\) be a general fibre of \(f\). If the Albanese fibre dimension of \(F\) is \(\leq 3\), then \(\kappa(X)\geq \kappa(Y)+\kappa(F)\).
