The paper is devoted to the problem of uniqueness of a weak Leray solution to the Cauchy problem for the Navier-Stokes equations \[ \begin{aligned} \frac{\partial v}{\partial t}-\Delta v+(v\cdot\nabla)v-\nabla p&=0,\quad \text{div}\, v=0 \\ v| _{t=0}=v_0. \end{aligned}\tag{1} \] The author describes the functional spaces \(P\) such that if \(u\) and \(v\) are two weak Leray solutions to the problem (1) for a given \(v_0\in L_2\) and \(v\in P\) then \(u=v\) on a certain time interval. The proofs are based on a method of multipliers and paramultipliers in Sobolev spaces. The results of the paper generalize Serrin's criterion of uniqueness. The article contains a review of known results of the uniqueness to the Navier-Stokes equations.
