Generally, there is a considerable interest in the development of constitutive equations for pressure-dependent plastic materials. Here, the authors present a new semi-analytic solution for the distribution of stresses and strains, including residual stresses and strains, within thin hollow elastic/plastic discs under plane stress conditions and subjected to thermal loading. The material is supposed to obey the Drucker-Prager yield criterion and its associated flow rule. It is plastically compressible. This is the first non-trivial semi-analytic plane stress solution for this model. A zone of reversed plastic flow may occur in the vicinity of the hole in the process of unloading. The authors use the equation of incompressibility for plastic strain rates which is confirmed experimentally for some pressure-dependent materials, but it is not valid for other materials.
