A distribution of an infinite sum of possibly dependent point processes on a compact metric space is approximated by a distribution of a Poisson process. An inequality for the Barbour-Brown distance (Wasserstein-type \(d_2\)-distance) between these distributions is derived via Stein's method of Poisson approximation. The result is compared to different versions of the Grigelionis' theorem. An application to a spatial birth and death model is considered.
