In this paper, the authors provide an explicit list of candidate poles for the complex local zeta function attached to $f$ and $\Phi$ when $f$ is non-degenerate with respect to its Newton polyhedron, where $f$ being a polynomial function over the complex numbers and $\Phi$ being a smooth function over $C$ with compact support. Then, they show that the provided list is given just in terms of the normal vectors to the supporting hyperplanes of the Newton polyhedron attached to $f$. More precisely, the mentioned list does not contain the candidate poles coming from the additional vectors required in the regular conical subdivision of the first orthant, and necessary in the study of local zeta functions through resolution of singularities. The results derived in this paper refine the corresponding results of \textit{A. N. Varchenko} [Funct. Anal. Appl. 10, 175--196 (1977; Zbl 0351.32011); translation from Funkts. Anal. Prilozh. 10, No. 3, 13--38 (1976)] and generalize the results of \textit{J. Denef} and \textit{P. Sargos} [J. Anal. Math. 53, 201--218 (1989; Zbl 0693.32003)] in the real case, to the complex setting.
