The authors study relative versions of pure derived categories, which they call \(n\)-pure derived categories. For each positive integer \(n\), the class of \(\mathrm{FP}_{n}\)-modules consists of those modules \(M\) that admit an exact sequence \(F_{n}\rightarrow F_{n-1}\rightarrow \cdots \rightarrow F_{0}\rightarrow M\rightarrow 0\) where each \(F_{i}\) is finitely generated and projective. Using this concept the authors define the notion of \(n\)-pure exact sequences, and that of \(n\)-pure derived categories. They prove various results that generalize well-known results from the case \(n=1\). They also show an equivalence between the bounded derived category of a ring and the bounded \(n\)-pure derived category modulo the homotopy category of bounded exact complexes of \(n\)-pure projective modules.
