Preimage homomorphism indices of preimage classes (Q2661702)

Under finite regular covering spaces, each preimage class of the base spaces is covered by some preimage classes of the covering spaces. In this paper the authors find an explicit relationship between the preimage classes under finite regular covering spaces in terms of covering transformation groups. Thereby, they obtain an explicit relationship of the homomorphism index between them in terms of covering transformation groups. This is a local averaging formula and is the main result of the paper. Moreover, using the local averaging formula, the authors provide an averaging formula for the preimage Reidemeister trace.
