    A weight \(N\) Hodge structure \((L, L^{p,q})\) is said to have Hodge coniveau \(c\) if the Hodge decomposition takes the form \[L_\mathbb{C}=L^{N-c,c}\oplus \dots\oplus L^{c,N-c}.\] with \(L^{N-c,c} \neq 0\). Let \(\mathrm{Gr}(k, n)\) denote the Grassmannian of \(k\)-dimensional subspaces of an \(n\)-dimensional vector space, and \(Y=\mathrm{Gr}(k, n)\cap H\) be a smooth hyperplane section with respect to the Plücker embedding \(\mathrm{Gr}(k, n)\hookrightarrow \mathbb{P}^{\binom{n}{k}-1}\). Results of \textit{M. Bernardara} et al. [J. Éc. Polytech., Math. 8, 733--778 (2021; Zbl 1474.14068)] and \textit{A. Kuznetsov} [J. Reine Angew. Math. 753, 239--267 (2019; Zbl 1440.14092)] state that, under certain numerical conditions on \(n\) and \(k\), the Hodge coniveau of \(Y\) is \(n-1\) (cf. Theorem 2.1). The generalized Bloch conjecture predicts that for any smooth projective \(\mathbb{C}\)-variety \(X\) with Hodge coniveau \(\ge c\), one has \[\mathrm{CH}_i(X)^{\mathrm{hom}}_{\mathbb{Q}}=0\] for all \(i\le c-1\). Here \(\mathrm{CH}_i(X)^{\mathrm{hom}}_{\mathbb{Q}}\subset \mathrm{CH}_i(X)_{\mathbb{Q}}\) denotes the subgroup of homologically trivial cycles. These motivate the author of this paper to formulate the following conjecture. Conjecture. \(\mathrm{CH}_i(Y)^{\mathrm{hom}}_{\mathbb{Q}}=0\) for all \(i\le n-2\). In this paper, a weaker form of this conjecture is proved: \(\mathrm{CH}_i(Y)^{\mathrm{hom}}_{\mathbb{Q}}=0\) for all \(i\le n-k\). Moreover, the author is able to prove the conjecture in full generality when \(k=3\) and \(n\le 13, n\neq 12\). As corollaries, some cases of the generalized Hodge conjecture are verified.
