In the last decade there have been many papers about the stability of isometries and approximate isometries. In particular, \textit{J. W. Fickett} has proved the Hyers-Ulam stability of isometries defined on a bounded subset of \(\mathbb{R}^n\) in [Stud. Math. 72, 37--46 (1982; Zbl 0411.28011)] and \textit{P. Alestalo} et al. [Isr. J. Math. 125, 61--82 (2001; Zbl 1022.46012)] and \textit{J. Väisälä} [Isr. J. Math. 128, 1--27 (2002; Zbl 1033.46012)] have improved significantly Fickett's theorem by proving the Hyers-Ulam stability of isometries defined on bounded subsets of \(\mathbb{R}^n\). In this paper, the author proves the Hyers-Ulam stability of isometries defined on bounded subsets of \(\mathbb{R}^n\) for \(n \ge 3,\) thus improving Fickett's theorem by using a more intuitive, simple and efficient approach that is quite different from the previously used methods.
