Grand Lebesgue spaces (or Iwaniec-Sbordone spaces) were introduced by \textit{T. Iwaniec} and \textit{C. Sbordone} [Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 119, No. 2, 129--143 (1992; Zbl 0766.46016)] in the case of finite measure underlying set. Grand Lebesgue spaces on sets of infinite measure were introduced by \textit{S. M. Umarkhadzhiev} [Russ. Math. 58, No. 4, 35--43 (2014; Zbl 1314.46037); translation from Izv. Vyssh. Uchebn. Zaved., Mat. 2014, No. 4, 18--24 (2014)] and the more generalized case by \textit{S. Samko} and \textit{S. Umarkhadzhiev} [Math. Nachr. 290, No. 5--6, 913--919 (2017; Zbl 1377.46021)]. In the paper under review, the authors define a version of grand Lebesgue spaces which are called local grand Lebesgue spaces \(L_{F,a}^{p),\theta}(\Omega,\mu)\). Let \((X,d,\mu)\) be a quasi-metric measure space and \(\mathfrak{D}:= \text{diam}(X)\) with \(0 < \mathfrak{D} \leq \infty\). Let \(I=(0,\mathfrak{D})\) and denote by \(L_{+}^{\infty}(I)\) the cone of non-negative functions in \(L^{\infty}(I)\). Let \(\Omega\) be an open set in \(X\) and \(F\subset X\) be a closed non-empty set with \(\mu(F) = 0\). For \(0<p<\infty\), \(\theta>0\) and \(a \in L_{+}^{\infty}(I)\), the local grand Lebesgue space \(L_{F,a}^{p),\theta}(\Omega,\mu)\) is the set of \[ \left\Vert f\right\Vert_{L_{F,a}^{p),\theta}(\Omega,\mu)}:=\sup_{0<\varepsilon<\ell} \varepsilon^{\theta}\left(\int_{\Omega}|f(x)|^{p}a{(\text{dist}(x,F))}^{p\varepsilon}d\mu(x)\right)^{1/p}<\infty \] and \[ \left\Vert f\right\Vert_{L_{F,a}^{\infty),\theta}(\Omega,\mu)}:=\sup_{0<\varepsilon<\ell}\text{ess} \sup_{x\in \Omega}|f(x)|a{(\text{dist}(x,F))}^{\varepsilon}<\infty \] for \(0<\ell<\infty\). They prove some properties of such spaces and obtain the boundedness of the maximal operator, singular operators with standard kernel, and potential operator. Moreover, an application to the Dirichlet problem for the Laplace equation is presented.
