In the present paper, the authors study the following semilinear Cauchy problems for de Sitter (\(e^{-2Ht}\)) and anti-de Sitter (\(e^{2Ht}\)) models of cosmology: \begin{gather*} u_{tt}- c^2 e^{\pm 2Ht}\Delta u + bu_t +m^2u=f(t,u),\,\,\,(t,x)\in (0,\infty)\times \mathbb{R}^n,\\ u(0,x)=\varepsilon u_0(x), \,\,\,u_t(0,x)=\varepsilon u_1(x),\,\,\, x \in \mathbb{R}^n, \end{gather*} where \(n\geq 1\), \(c,H>0\), \(b,m \geq 0\), \(p>1\) and \(\varepsilon >0\) is sufficiently small. Additionally, the authors assume \(b^2 \geq 4m^2\). So, models with dominant dissipation (\(b^2> 4m^2\)) or models with balanced mass and dissipation (\(b^2=4m^2\)) are of interest. The nonlinear term is supposed to have the following structure: \[ f=f(t,u)=\Gamma(t)\Big(\int_{\mathbb{R}^n} |u(t,y)|^p dy\Big)^\beta |u|^p. \] Here \(p>1\), \(\beta \geq 0\) and \(\Gamma(t)=\mu e^{rt}(1+t)^\kappa\), where \(\mu>0\) and \(r,\kappa \in \mathbb{R}\). The data is supposed to be nontrivial, nonnegative and compactly supported. The authors are interested in \textit{blow-up results} for local (in time) weak solutions. Moreover, \textit{lifespan estimates to above} are proved. The main strategy is to propose growth conditions on \(\Gamma=\Gamma(t)\) in such a way that blow-up phenomena really occur. \textit{de Sitter case:} Here an iteration procedure is used to verify that the space average of a local (in time) weak solution blows up in finite time. This iteration procedure allows by a ``slicing strategy'' to establish a sequence of lower bound estimates for a time-dependent functional. The critical values \(r_{\mathrm{crit}}\) and \(\kappa_{\mathrm{crit}}\) in the function \(\Gamma\) are independent of the spatial dimension \(n\). Moreover, it is used that the propagation speed belongs to \(L^1(\mathbb{R}^+)\). \textit{anti-de Sitter case:} Similar tools as in the proof of results for de Sitter models are used. Now, the propagation speed does not belong to \(L^1(\mathbb{R}^+)\). The critical value \(r_{\mathrm{crit}}\) in the function \(\Gamma\) depends on the spatial dimension \(n\). This dependence on \(n\) is a result of a ``competition'' in the iteration procedure of influences coming from the data or the nonlinear right-hand side. It would be nice to verify in a forthcoming paper, that the proposed critical behavior is really critical by establishing the global (in time) small data existence part!
