Let \(\mathcal{U}\subset \mathbb{R}^2\) be a bounded open set containing the origin \((0, 0)\), \(\Sigma^+=\{ (x, y)\in \mathcal{U}: \ y>0\}\) and \(\Sigma^-=\{ (x, y)\in \mathcal{U}: \ y<0\}\). Consider a class of planar piecewise smooth vector fields defined on \(\mathcal{U}\) that consist of two smooth vector fields separated by the switching line \(\Sigma=\{ (x, y)\in \mathcal{U}: \ y=0\}\) given by: \[ \left(\dot{x}, \dot{y}\right)=Z(x, y)= \begin{cases} X(x, y)=\left(X_1(x, y), X_2(x, y)\right), & (x, y)\in \Sigma^+, \\ Y(x, y)=\left(Y_1(x, y), Y_2(x, y)\right), & (x, y)\in \Sigma^-, \end{cases} \] where \(X_i(x, y)\) and \(Y_i(x, y)\) (\(i=1, 2\)) are \(C^1\) functions. The Filippov's convention is assumed for the solutions of the system on \(\Sigma\). Assume that \((0, 0)\) is a non-degenerate boundary equilibrium for both of the subsystems. Furthermore, assume that \(X_{2x}(0, 0)Y_{2x}(0, 0)>0\), implying that there are no sliding points in a deleted neighborhood of \((0, 0)\). In this paper, the authors obtain sufficient conditions for piecewise linearization of the system near \((0, 0)\) in the sense of \(\Sigma\)-equivalence. Then they prove a necessary and sufficient condition for local \(\Sigma\)-structural stability when \((0, 0)\) is still a non-degenerate boundary equilibrium for both of the subsystems under perturbations. Furthermore, the existence of crossing limit cycles bifurcated from \((0, 0)\) of the system under perturbations is also investigated.
