For many applications, it is essential to have effective bounds for Fourier coefficients of automorphic forms. Hence it is a good motivation for working on this problem and there are many good papers about this problem in the literature. In the paper under review, the authors give an asymptotic formula with an effective bound on the error term for traces of CM values of a generic class of weak Maass forms. The proof is based on calculations on the Weil bound and bounds for Bessel functions and Heegner points. As applications, they use these results for giving asymptotic formulas with effective bounds on the error terms for the partition function, the Andrews smallest parts function, and the coefficients of Ramanujan's mock theta functions \(f(q)\) and \(\omega(q)\).
