Let \(n\) and \(k\) be a positive integers. For fixed points \(p_0,\dots ,p_k \in \mathbb{R}^{n+1} \), the authors define the generalized distance-squared mapping \(G_{(p_0,\dots ,p_k,A)} :\mathbb{R}^{n+1}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}^{k+1}\), where \(A\) is a \((k+1)\times(n+1)\) matrix with non-zero entries. The main result of the paper is the classification of generalized distance-squared mappings of the plane into the plane in a recognizable way (Theorem 1). Other papers by the first two authors directly connected to this topic are [Topology Appl. 160, No. 8, 1005--1016 (2013; Zbl 1290.57031); J. Geom. Phys. 81, 62--71 (2014; Zbl 1294.57019)].
