Let \(\mathbb{C}\) denote the complex plane, and let \(\phi:\mathbb{C}\to \mathbb{R}\) be a function for which \(\Delta \phi\) is positive, and a doubling measure. The Fock space \(F^2_\phi\) consists of the entire functions \(f\) that satisfy NEWLINE\[NEWLINE\int_{\mathbb{C}}|f(z)|^2 e^{-2\phi (z)} dA(z),NEWLINE\]NEWLINE where \(dA(z)\) denotes the Lebesgue area measure.NEWLINENEWLINEIt is well known that \(F^2_\phi\) is a Hilbert space with the reproducing kernel \(K(z,\zeta)\). Let \(\nu\) be a Borel measure on the complex plane that satisfies NEWLINE\[NEWLINE\int_{\mathbb{C}}|K(z,\zeta)|^2 e^{-2\phi (\zeta)} d|\nu |(\zeta)<\infty.NEWLINE\]NEWLINE The Toeplitz operator \(T_\nu\) on the Fock space is defined by NEWLINE\[NEWLINET_\nu (f)(z)= \int_{\mathbb{C}}f(\zeta)K(z,\zeta) e^{-2\phi (\zeta)} d\nu (\zeta),\qquad z\in \mathbb{C}.NEWLINE\]NEWLINE In the paper under review, the author characterizes the boundedness and the compactness of the Toeplitz operator \(T_\nu\). The first theorem of this paper says that for a locally finite positive Borel measure \(\nu\), the operator \(T_\nu\) is bounded if and only if \(\nu\) is a Fock-Carleson measure, in the sense that the inclusion map from \(F^2_\phi\) into \(L^2(\mathbb{C}, e^{-2\phi} d\nu)\) is bounded, or equivalently, there exists a constant \(C>0\) such that NEWLINE\[NEWLINE\| f\|_{L^2(\mathbb{C}, e^{-2\phi} d\nu)}\leq C\|f\|_{F^2_\phi},\qquad f\in F^2_{\phi}.NEWLINE\]NEWLINE It is also proved that \(T_\nu\) is compact if and only if \(\nu\) is a vanishing Fock-Carleson measure, meaning that NEWLINE\[NEWLINE\lim_{n\to \infty}\| f_n\|_{L^2(\mathbb{C}, e^{-2\phi} d\nu)}=0NEWLINE\]NEWLINE whenever \(\{f_n\}\) is a bounded sequence in \(F^2_\phi\) that converges to \(0\) uniformly on compact subsets of the complex plane.
