Let \(\mathbb{F}\) be a field, \(K\subseteq \mathbb{R}\) an integral domain and \(R\) be a ring. The authors prove that all general solutions \(f:K^2\to \mathbb{R}^+\) of the equations \(f(ux+vy, uy-vx)=f(x, y)f(u, v)\) and \(f(ux-vy, uy+vx)=f(x, y)f(u, v)\) are of the form \(f(x, y)=M(x^2+y^2)\) and \(f(x, y)=M(x^2+y^2)E(\tan^{-1}(\frac{y}{x}))\), respectively, where \(M:K^*\to \mathbb{R}^+\) is a multiplication function with \(K^*=\{\sqrt{x^2+y^2}:x, y\in K\}\) and \(E:K_*\to \mathbb{R}^+\) is an exponential function satisfying \(E(\frac{\pi}{4})=1\) with \(K_*=\{\arg(x+iy):x, y\in K\}\). They also prove that all general solutions \(f:R^2\to \mathbb{F}\) of the equations \(f(ux-vy, uy-vx)=f(x, y)f(u, v)\) and \(f(ux+vy, uy+vx)=f(x, y)f(u, v)\) are given by \(f(x, y)=M(x^2-xy+yx_y^2)\) and \(f(x, y)=M_1(x+y)M_2(x-y)\) for each \(x, y\in R\), respectively, where \(M, M_1, M_2:R\to \mathbb{F}\) are multiplicative functions. They investigate the Ulam-Hyers stability of all above functional equations.
