Let \(n\geq 1\) be an integer and \(B_n\) be the braid group on \(n\) strings. In this paper, the author describes the group \(B_n\), \(n\geq 4\), as a crossed module over itself, gives its properties and interprets the braid relations as crossed module structure relations.
