A continuum is a nonempty compact connected Hausdorff space. Given a continuum \(X\), let Homeo(\(X\)) denote the homeomorphism group of \(X\). For a cardinal number \(\kappa\), \(X\) is said to be \(\frac{1}{\kappa }\)-homogeneous if the action of Homeo(\(X\)) has exactly \(\kappa\) orbits. \textit{V. Newmann-Lara} et al. [Topology Appl. 153, No. 14, 2518--2527 (2006; Zbl 1106.54013)] gave an example of a decomposable circle-like \(\frac{1}{2}\)-homogeneous continuum, and they asked if there exists an indecomposable \(\frac{1}{2}\)-homogeneous circle-like continuum. This question was independently solved in the positive by \textit{P. Pyrih} and \textit{B. Vejnar} [ibid. 160, No. 1, 56--58 (2013; Zbl 1256.54058)] and \textit{J. P. Boroński} [ibid. 160, No. 1, 59--62 (2013; Zbl 1261.54019) ]. Positive answers to this question for each positive integer were given by \textit{R. Jiménez Hernández} et al. [ibid. 160, No. 7, 930--936 (2013; Zbl 1285.54024] and \textit{J. P. Boroński} [ibid. 182, 98--106 (2015; Zbl 1311.54017)], in the last paper a \(\frac{1}{\omega }\)-homogeneous example was constructed as well. In the paper under review, the authors give a positive answer to the question for each cardinal \(\kappa\) (with non-metric continua). They construct their examples starting with a linearly ordered continuum \(\Delta\), identifying the minimum and the maximum point in \(\Delta\), and then constructing an inverse limit of these ``circles''. Besides the examples, the paper includes a study of these non-metric analogues of Vietoris solenoids, and a detailed history of solenoids.
