Let \(\{\omega_i\}_{i\in I}\) be a family of positive numbers. A family of bounded operators \(\{T_i\}_{i\in I}\) on a Hilbert space H is called an atomic resolution of the identity with respect to \(\{\omega_i\}_{i\in I}\) for H if there exist two positive numbers A and B such that for each \(f\in H\), (i) \(f=\sum_{i\in I}T_i(f)\); (ii) \(A\|f\|^2\leq\sum_{i\in I}\omega_i^2\|T_i(f)\|^2\leq B\|f\|^2\). If we only know that \(\{T_i\}_{i\in I}\) satisfies (i), then \(\{T_i\}_{i\in I}\) is called a resolution of the identity; see [\textit{P. G. Casazza} and \textit{G. Kutyniok}, Contemp. Math. 345, 87--113 (2004; Zbl 1058.42019); \textit{M. S. Asgari} and \textit{A. Khosravi}, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 308, No. 2, 541--553 (2005; Zbl 1091.46006)]. Resolutions of the identity and atomic resolutions of the identity have close relationships with frames in Hilbert spaces and they are mainly used in the reconstruction of signals. The authors of the present paper introduce continuous resolutions of the identity and continuous atomic systems and obtain some results for them. They show that there are some differences between continuous atomic systems and the discrete ones. Moreover, the authors use continuous frames of subspaces (fusion frames), especially Parseval fusion frames, to get new continuous atomic systems and resolutions of the identity.
