    Let \(\Omega\subset\mathbb R^2\) be a bounded domain with a smooth boundary \(\partial\Omega\). The authors consider the initial boundary value problem \((P)\): \[ \left\{ \begin{aligned} u_t&=\nabla\overset {.} {~}(D_{\epsilon}(u)\nabla u)-\nabla \overset{.} {~} (\chi u\nabla v)+\nabla \overset{.} {~}(\xi u\nabla w)\\ v_t&=\Delta v+\alpha u-\beta v\\ w_t&=\Delta w+\gamma u-\delta w \end{aligned} \right. \] for \(x\in\Omega, t>0\), associated with the homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions on \(\partial \Omega,\) and initial conditions \(u_o(x),v_o(x),w_o(x),\) \(x\in\Omega\). Here, the diffusion coefficient \(D\in C^2([0,\infty)).\) Moreover there exist constants \(D_o>0\) and \(m>1\) such that \[ D(s)\geq D_o(s+ \epsilon)^{m-1},\forall s\geq 0 \] for some \(\epsilon \geq 0\). The parameters \(\chi,\xi\) are non negative, and \(\alpha,\beta,\gamma,\delta \) are positive. The authors present sufficient conditions on the data such that, when \(\epsilon>0\) [resp. \(\epsilon=0\)], there exists a classical solution \((u,v,w)\) to \((P),\) of non negative bounded functions belonging to \(C^0(\bar{\Omega}\times [0,\infty))\cap C^{2,1}(\bar{\Omega}\times (0,\infty))\) (theorem 1.1) [resp. a non-negative global bounded weak solution \((u,v,w) \) to \(P\) (theorem 1.3)].
