A left invariant almost hypercomplex structure on a Lie group \(U\) is a couple of complex structures \(I, J : \mathfrak{u}\to\mathfrak{u}\) satisfying \(I\circ J=-J\circ I\). An almost hypercomplex structure will be called a hypercomplex structure if both \(I\) and \(J\) are integrable. A complex structure \(J\) on \(\mathfrak{u}\) is said to match \(I\) if \(J\) is integrable and \(I\,J=-J\,I\). A structure \(I\) is called admissible if there exists some \(J\), which matches \(I\). In this paper, the authors give a description of compact hypercomplex homogeneous manifolds with a transitive action of a compact Lie group. The classification and proofs are entirely based on the structure theory of reductive Lie groups. The first problem the authors deal with is to determine all admissible compact complex manifolds \((M,I)\). The other problem is to describe the class of all homogeneous hypercomplex structures on \(M\) of which a given admissible complex structure \(I\) is one of the complex structures. They solve both problems in the case when \(M=U\) is a compact Lie group, whose Lie algebra is \(\mathfrak{u}\). The problems are easily reduced to determining the hypercomplex structures on the Lie algebra, which are integrable in the sense that the Nijenhuis tensors vanish. The corresponding solutions are formulated and proved in terms of a remarkable subset, the stem of the root system of \(\mathfrak{u}\). For Part I, see [the authors, J. Geom. Phys. 165, Article ID 104219, 32 p. (2021; Zbl 1468.53045)].
