The authors obtain the boundedness of weighted maximal operators of Vilenkin-Nörlund means with non-increasing coefficients, from the martingale Hardy space \(H_p\) to the Lebesgue space \(L_p\). Moreover, they also point out that this boundedness is optimal in a special sense. As an application, the strong summability for such Vilenkin-Nörlund means is proved.
