The paper deals with existence of blow-up solutions for a multi-component parabolic-elliptic drift-diffusion model in higher space dimensions. Precisely, for \(m\geq1,\) the authors consider the initial value problem \[ \begin{cases} \partial_tu_i-\Delta u_i+\kappa_i\nabla\cdot(u_i\nabla\psi)=0, & t>0,\;x\in\mathbb{R}^n,\\ -\Delta\psi=\sum_{j=1}^m\mu_ju_j,\;\kappa_i,\mu_j=\pm1, & t>0,\;x\in\mathbb{R}^n,\\ u_i(0,x)=u_{i,0}(x), & x\in\mathbb{R}^n, \end{cases} \] where \(u_i(t,x)\) denote the particle densities and \(\psi\) is the potential of the particle field. The authors prove local existence, uniqueness and well-posedness of the above problem in the framework of weighted \(L^2\) spaces. Moreover, it is shown that if the initial data satisfy certain conditions, then the corresponding solution blows up in finite time.
