According to \textit{B.~Wang}, \textit{Y.~Zhao} and \textit{W.~Qian} [Nonlinear Anal., Theory Methods Appl., Ser. A, Theory Methods 74, No. 6, 2109--2115 (2011; Zbl 1220.46012)], a Banach space \(X\) is weak*-extensible if for every subspace \(Y\), every weak*-null sequence \((f_n)\subset Y^*\) admits a subsequence \((f_m)\) which can be extended to a weak*-null sequence \((F_n)\subset X^*\). They posed the problem: Does a weak*-extensible space have a weak*-sequentially compact dual ball? In the paper under review the authors give partial answers to this problem. They also introduce and investigate a weaker notion of separable weak*-extensibility, taking in the previous definition only separable subspaces \(Y\). It turns out that separably weak*-extensible Banach spaces have the Gelfand-Phillips property although they do not necessarily have a weak*-sequentially compact dual ball.
