The paper investigats the structure of particular completions of algebras in any finitely generated variety of lattice-based algebras, and dual representation of such algebras. A lattice-based algebra is an algebraic structure which is a lattice equipped with a (possibly empty) set of additional operations. The structure of canonical extensions in finitely generated lattice-based varieties is explored, and the role of natural extension in providing a realisation of canonical extension is discussed. The completions considered are Boolean topological algebras with respect to the interval topology. Recent results from duality theory are used to show that topological and discrete dualities for such a variety exists in a certain partnership.
